Below is a set of direct quotations from A Course in Miracles. These are all of the parts written in italics in the 2nd edition of ACIM – the things you should remember, prayers you should use, or thing which might help you in times of need….Nothing real can be threatened

Nothing unreal exists
Herein lies the peace of God.
Spirit is in a state of grace forever.
Your reality is only spirit.
Therefore you are in a state of grace forever.

Perfect love casts out fear.
If fear exists,
Then there is not perfect love.
but
Only perfect love exists.
If there is fear,
it produce a state that does not exist.

I am here only to be truly helpful.
I am here to represent Him Who sent me.
I do not have to worry about what to say or what to do, because He Who sent me will direct me.
I am content to be wherever He wishes, knowing He goes there with me.
I will be healed as I let Him teach me to heal.

In this world you need not have tribulation because I have overcome the world. That is why you should be of good cheer.

The Kingdom is perfectly united and perfectly protected, and the ego will not prevail against it. Amen.

Let me know this brother as I know myself.

Thoughts increase by being given away.
The more who believe in them the stronger they become.
Everything is an idea.
How, then, can giving and losing be associated?

I must have decided wrongly, because I am not at peace.
I made the decision myself, but I can also decide otherwise.
I want to decide otherwise, because I want to be at peace.
I do not feel guilty, because the Holy Spirit will undo all the consequences of my wrong decision if I will let Him.
I choose to let Him, by allowing Him to decide for God for me.

Teach only love, for that is what you are.

To have, give all to all.

To have peace, teach peace to learn it.

Be vigilant only for God and His Kingdom.

Christ is in me, and where He is God must be, for Christ is part of Him.

Because I will to know myself, I see you as God’s Son and my brother.

By their fruits ye shall know them, and they shall know themselves.

God himself is incomplete without me.

All power is of God.
What is not of Him has no power to do anything.

Do I want the problem or do I want the answer?

The Holy Spirit leads me unto Christ, and where else would I go? What need have I but to awake in Him?

Behold the Son of God, and look upon his purity and be still. In quiet look upon his holiness, and offer thanks unto his Father that no guilt has ever touched him.

The truth is true. Nothing else matters, nothing else is real, and everything beside it is not there. Let Me make the one distinction for you that you cannot make, but need to learn. Your faith in nothing is deceiving you. Offer your faith to Me, and I will place it gently in the holy place where it belongs. You will find no deception there, but only the simple truth. And you will love it because you will understand it.

What I experience I will make manifest.

If I am guiltless, I have nothing to fear.

I choose to testify to my acceptance of the Atonement, not to its rejection.

I would accept my guiltlessness by making it manifest and sharing it.

Let me bring peace to God’s Son from his Father.

He leadeth me and knows the way, which I know not.
Yet He will never keep from me what He would have me learn.
And so I trust Him to communicate to me all that He knows for me.

I do not know what anything, including this, means. And so I do not know how to respond to it. And I will not use my own past learning as the light to guide me now.

I give you to the Holy Spirit as part of myself.
I know that you will be released, unless I want to use you to imprison myself.
In the name of my freedom I choose your release, because I recognize that we will be released together.

I am not alone, and I would not intrude the past upon my Guest.
I have invited Him, and He is here.
I need do nothing except not interfere.

Forgive us our illusions, Father, and help us to accept our true relationship with You, in which there are no illusions, and where none can ever enter. Our holiness is Yours. What can there be in us that needs forgiveness when Yours is perfect? The sleep of forgetfulness is only the unwillingness to remember Your forgiveness and Your Love. Let us not wander into temptation, for the temptation of the Son of God is not Your Will. And let us receive only what You have given, and accept but this into the minds which You created and which You love. Amen.

I who am host to God am worthy of Him. He Who established His dwelling place in me created it as He would have it be. It is not needful that I make it ready for Him, but only that I do not interfere with His plan to restore to me my own awareness of my readiness, which is eternal. I need add nothing to His plan. But to receive it, I must be willing not to substitute my own in place of it.

I desire this holy instant for myself, that I may share it with my brother, whom I love.
It is not possible that I can have it without him, or he without me.
Yet it is wholly possible for us to share it now.
And so I choose this instant as the one to offer to the Holy Spirit, that His blessing may descend on us, and keep us both in peace.

Take this from me and look upon it, judging it for me.
Let me not see it as a sign of sin and death, nor use it for destruction.
Teach me how not to make of it an obstacle to peace, but let You use it for me, to facilitate its coming.

I am responsible for what I see.
I choose the feelings I experience, and I decide upon the goal I would achieve.
And everything that seems to happen to me I ask for, and receive as I have asked.
Do I desire a world I rule instead of one that rules me?
Do I desire a world where I am powerful instead of helpless?
Do I desire a world in which I have no enemies and cannot sin?
And do I want to see what I denied because it is the truth?
Is this what I would see? Do I want this?

What is the same can not be different, and what is one can not have separate parts.

What is God’s belongs to everyone, and is his due.
By this do I deny the Presence of the Father and the Son.
And I would rather know of Them than see injustice, which Their Presence shines away.

Today I will make no decisions by myself.
If I make no decisions by myself, this is the day that will be given me.
I have no question. I forgot what to decide.
At least I can decide I do not like what I feel now.
And so I hope I have been wrong.
I want another way to look at this.
Perhaps there is another way to look at this.
What can I lose by asking?

There never was a time an idol brought you anything except the “gift” of guilt. Not one was bought except at cost of pain, nor was it ever paid by you alone.

I thank You, Father, for Your perfect Son, and in his glory will I see my own.

The answer that I give my brother is what I am asking for. And what I learn of him is what I learn about myself.

I do not know the thing I am, and therefore do not know what I am doing, where I am, or how to look upon the world or on myself.

Choose once again if you would take your place among the saviors of the world, or would remain in hell, and hold your brothers there.

I am as God created me. His Son can suffer nothing. And I am His Son.

Holy are you, eternal, free and whole, at peace forever in the Heart of God. Where is the world, and where is sorrow now?

You but mistake interpretation for the truth. And you are wrong. But a mistake is not a sin, nor has reality been taken from its throne by your mistakes. God reigns forever, and His laws alone prevail upon you and upon the world. His Love remains the only thing there is. Fear is illusion, for you are like Him.

And now in all your doings be you blessed.
God turns to you for help to save the world.
Teacher of God, His thanks He offers you,
And all the world stands silent in the grace
You bring from Him. You are the Son He loves,
And it is given you to be the means
Through which His Voice is heard around the world,
To close all things of time; to end the sight
Of all things visible; and to undo
All things that change. Through you is ushered in
A world unseen, unheard, yet truly there.
Holy are you, and in your light the world
Reflects your holiness, for you are not
Alone and friendless. I give thanks for you,
And join your efforts on behalf of God,
Knowing they are on my behalf as well,
And for all those who walk to God with me.
Amen.

There is no death because the Son of God is like his Father. Nothing you can do can change Eternal Love. Forget your dreams of sin and guilt, and come with me instead to share the resurrection of God’s Son. And bring with you all those whom He has sent to you to care for as I care for you.

The question of ‘why’ always stems from the belief that something has happened. Believing it happened automatically means we think something has gone wrong – something doesn’t make sense, is out-of-place, and cannot be accepted. And so then we ask `why?`. But this question can’t be answered because the question itself is the problem. Founded on the belief that something has gone wrong, something which makes no sense and has no meaning, there can be no satisfactory explanation for that `thing that happened`. So the question can’t be answered and the question is the problem. So asking ‘why’ is asking not to be answered, such are all ego questions.

However, this doesn’t stop us trying to ask why. We ask it all the time, every day. Why did this happen? Why did that happen when this should’ve happened? Why didn’t that happen? Why did this thing happen when I was expecting that to happen? I don’t like it when that happens, I prefer this to happen, why did that happen? Why would they want to do that, they are wrong? Why did they think like that? They are surely guilty of being wrong. Why why why.

All of this `why` stems from not accepting what is. The question of `why` is a resistance to peace. Indeed, asking why brought about the illusion of separating from God, questioning God’s truth instead of accepting it. Undermining it instead of letting it be.

All of our struggles with the world, of things happening that we don’t like, don’t prefer, experience as unpleasant, think are out-of-place, think should not be happening, do not meet our preference, bother us, upset us, or otherwise strike us as a disruption to what we *want* to be true, are all because we don’t accept what is – God is.

Our resistance to God is the source of our belief in sin and thus guilt. And so whenever some event happens we resist it, because we have some notion that it is riddled with wrongness and shouldn’t `be`, that it wasn’t in your plan, or messes up your life, or acts against you. Surely these pesky events must be God’s wrath and revenge.

But what if this belief in sin and guilt were removed, diminished by the light of the Holy Spirit’s True Forgiveness? What of events then? It gradually becomes easier to recognize that not only are all events neutral but all events are perfect. Their halo of guilt dims away leaving only sight of their true purpose. Their true purpose is to see them as forgiven, not as a source of frustration or cause for wishing after some better outcome. Let it be.

Over time you will develop the ability to accept all events as being right, not out-of-place, not wrong, not guilt-ridden, not against you, and not attacking you. Instead then you can simply see them as pieces of script, in a movie, playing out. And as you hand over your previous guilt to the Holy Spirit you will discover, in a new light, that all of the events which occur are certainly not against you, but rather, working in an effortless flow of natural progression. And indeed, all events then are beautiful events, as a consistent blanket of peace and acceptance underlines them all.

So when the next thing happens to bother you, look ahead. Look to what happens *next*.. . because sure enough, the next thing to happen could not have happened were it not for the first. And if you get into the habit of allowing events to guide you, direct you, flow through you, you come to allow them to instead be guidance from The Holy Spirit, for higher purpose.

What used to seem like a bothersome sudden accident is seen later to have been necessary in order for that person to evolve spiritually. Sometimes events which *look bad* are simply different forms of blessings which need to occur in order for there to be spiritual progression. The underlying background of all events is always the progression of your spiritual awakening, and ONLY in that light do they make sense. If you can remember that `everything is for a reason`, the reason being the spiritual progress of each person, then you can look past the apparent nightmares of common happenings and see instead the beautiful purpose and even love moving through them.

Yes it is hard to see what looks dark in any way other than that it is dark, but look again. If you can determine not to resist life, not to resist events, not to disallow and judge and condemn them, not to mark them as out-of-place, out-of-order, out of purpose, uncalled for, purposeless, wasteful, an attack, a loss, something unwanted, then instead you can be open to see that there is nothing but liberation flowing through all of time and space – God and the Holy Spirit’s gentle reminder of awakening, that all is well, the nightmare appearance of the world is not the whole story, and the bigger picture reveals God’s infinite constant presence.

Accepting what is means accepting God’s being, it does not mean accepting illusions as real. It does not mean accepting that a terrible event has occurred. It does not mean making it okay to do terrible things. It does not mean that the appearance of awfulness is real and should be carried out with no care for others or yourself. It simply means that what appears horrid is only appearance, and underneath every event is God’s gentle winking eye, remind us of truth, offering us a way home through the transcendence of illusions. Accepting what is means becoming aware that God is present, and that appearances are not the whole picture. When you can see the whole picture you then have the Pure Perception to recognize illusions for the unconvincing surface forms that they are.

Learn to allow life, let it flow, let it be, recognize its spiritual purpose, and then you won’t need to ask why.

Peace.

God already is the way that God is. He is being. He is.

Every time I go to think about God, try to figure out what he might be like, interpret Him, judge Him, imagine Him, etc, all I’m really doing is trying to invent God. And yet God already is. I am not His creator. He created me!

Each interpretation I have of Him is my effort to make of him what I will, to adjust him, change Him. Indeed, this conversion of what God is into something that God is not, is what all of the `separation from God` is about. And yet God simply is how He is without any need for input on my part.

And so really doesn’t it all boil down to simply becoming able to let God be as He is? To accept his True identity? Because that is what the separation is really all about – an attempt to adjust identity from what it is. And maybe if I let God be as God is, I would let me also be as I am, and then I would recognize we are One.

So maybe instead of my adjustment of God, and of myself, I should simply `be still and know the peace of God`, instead of rampaging all over the place in avoidance and aversion. How about we let God tell us how God is – let Him define for us His nature and His truth, which we cannot hear or receive while we’re constantly blasting at Him with our egoic ideas about what he is not. Only when that blasting has ceased can we simply let God be.

All the searching, all the confusion, all the fear of the wrath of a made up God, fabricated in our own mind as a twisted idea, is simply unnecessary. These things don’t lead to the answer. The answer doesn’t have to be found, it is already here, but for our acceptance of it.

We are already saved, already found, already loved, already forgiven (ie did not do anything in the first place), already at peace and already as one.

God is.

Holy Spirit: You didn’t.

Holy Spirit: I agree.

You: So, one of us must be mistaken.

Holy Spirit: Who?

You: *pauses*

You: Well, it must be you.

Holy Spirit: Are you claiming to be wrong again?

You: Hmm, well, ok. Am I mistaken?

Holy Spirit: You think you are. In fact, you think you’re wrong, but you’re not.

You: What, do you mean I’m … mistaken about being wrong?

Holy Spirit: You are.

You: You mean, I’m wrong about being wrong?

Holy Spirit: No, there is a difference. When you’re wrong you’re guilty. You shouldn’t feel guilty for feeling guilty, that’s an inescapable loop, you know.

You: So, what then?

Holy Spirit: You’re just mistaken about being wrong. Everything you ever thought you did wrong, or anyone else for that matter, you were mistaken about. It is forgiveable.

You: For-what?

Holy Spirit: You know, it hasn’t happened, it isn’t true, you were just mistaken *about* being wrong.

You: So, all the stuff I thought I did wrong, all that stuff, I’m just… mistaken in thinking I did that?

Holy Spirit: Correct(ed).

You: Hmm. Just a mistake?

Holy Spirit: Yup.

You: *happy sigh*. That’s a relief!!

From The Disappearance of the Universe, page 296, courtesy of Mikey Mike’s quote-of-the-day rss feed:

“In regards to all your special relationships in this world, whether they were founded on special love or special hate: Why don’t you stop worrying about whether or not people love you and just love them? Then it doesn’t matter what they think about you. You can just be love. It’s so simple! And guess what? It will ultimately determine how you feel about yourself!” – by Arten

There are many individuals who find themselves unable to be loved. This is based largely upon the belief that nobody loves them, which in turn is based on prior experience of seeming not to be loved by another, or others, or everyone. In this paradigm there is the belief that what others do unto you is all you can accept. If you should be happy, it must presume the need that others be the source of that love, and that by their loving you you are affected by their love, just as you would be affected by their attack. Wanting others to love you thus becomes a desire to have them attack you with love. When such others fail to provide care, it is thought that you are not loved, and since you participate not in the cause of love you must therefore be unloveable. But this is not so.

Even when others provide love to you, you would think this would satisfy you and make you happy, except for one small thing – the hidden fact that you still have some say in whether you are loved. Others could shower you with their love and kindliness, only to have you reject their offering, denying it and insisting that they do not care for you. You could make out that their insistence on loving you is empty or fake, and therefore you are justified in feeling anger or attack toward them, using it to push them away. And how can you feel loved when you are angry at others? Your anger then becomes their fault, also. And yet you could choose to allow yourself to be loved by others, when their love is being offered. If the offer of love is accepted this symbolizes joining.

However, it must be recognized that such mutual love may not hold the awareness of the power of your choice to be loved. Without the awareness that you choose love both for yourself and others, you `just happen to be` loved, and if that love were taken away perhaps you would return to anger and isolation. In your mind, there is free will, and the ability to choose all that is. You may yet come to realize that you truly only feel loved when you are *sharing* love, which entails that you are giving it freely, unconditionally, and always, regardless of its supposed deservedness or its acceptance by others. It also entails giving love even when others are supposedly not giving it to you. Loving, always.

When you always love, consistently, you can be sure that you experience love yourself. You are always IN the love. It flows from the Creator directly to you and through you to others. Only by allowing it to flow can you feel its presence. Only by allowing it to flow can you accept love from God, and thus that you are loved, permanently and in reality. Only by allowing it to flow and extend to all others, regardless of their appearance, can you be in the experience of love.

Thus the truth is that if you want to be loved, love first. You cannot receive it if you are not willing to give it. You are not `unloved` by others, you are unloved by yourself, at the same time as not choosing to love them. Love all, and you will be included too. Being loved does not entail waiting for others to decide your loveliness for you, it entails your proactive decision to be the love, that you may remain in the love always and forever. And then nobody can take it away from you, not when they deny your love nor when they fail to love you.

In choosing to forlove, you are the one who decides to accept your loveliness, and noone can take that away but you. Your loveability never really had anything to do with others loving you first. And when you choose to love first, you can’t help but see love everywhere, even in those who think they are not loving you, or whose appearance would tell you there is a denial of love. Look past this, love them more, and learn to undo the lovelessness that is your own decision. Then you will see love in all people, even if they pretend not to admit its presence. And then you will laugh that you ever thought anything existed that is not love.

God loves you, and love is.

If you are feeling guilty, or think that you’ve done something wrong, or that you did something to someone else, or that someone else did something to you, try this simple thought process/roleplay…

Imagine that someone you know, even yourself, is coming back to visit from the very end of time to tell you The Truth. Having awakened to the full awareness of all of Reality, the Whole Truth, they come now to say this to you:

From the end of time…

I , <insert their name or your name here>

I stand at the end of time,
Looking back upon what once seemed to be,
And I see that nothing happened to me against my will.

You did not do anything to me,
I did it all to myself.
It was all my own creation,
I made the choices and I made it happen to me.

All of the victim roles,
All of the attacks and reactions,
I made all of them up myself,
And did them all to myself.
You didn’t do anything whatsoever.

You never did anything to me,
I am completely responsible,
for everything that ever seemed to happen to me.
It was all my own dream,
My own choice.
I chose all of it, not you.

You didn’t choose any of what I experienced,
You didn’t do it to me,
It’s not your fault,
You had nothing to do with it.
So stop thinking you did.

I don’t blame you at all.
You haven’t done anything to me.
I did it to me.

I love you.
You are innocent,
holy and forgiven,
because I am the one who made it all up.

This was my own dream,
My own mistakes,
My own self-made obstacles,
My own self-made challenges,
My own self-made solutions,

None of it was needed,
none of it had any meaning,
none of it lasted,
none of it affected me,
and none of it exists.

I choose now that I be what I am, with you.
We are love, together.
We are one, together.
We are innocent and alive, together,
And this is all that is true.

Peace.

A common conceptualization of forgiveness typically involves the bestowing of undeserved pardoning upon those who have caused harm. By virtue of the fact of their guilt, we forgive them because we have earned the privilege to do so, and because by doing so we look down upon them with deserved pity, indirectly benefiting from the elevated innocence that this portrays us as.

There is no real healing in such a forgiveness. It is forgiveness to condemn. It is merely a shifting of guilt and a re-labeling of the roles played by everyone involved. Such forgiveness takes no steps to truly undo the hurt, or its source. By looking at such sources we would have to admit to the facade of innocence we display in the face of evil, disowning all power to have chosen such experiences for ourselves.

Such forgiveness is really an anti-forgiveness, an unwillingness for what happened to not have happened. We do this so that we can benefit from how fortunate we’ve been to receive such wonderful justification for our high and mighty pardoning. We are almost secretly happy when we are attacked, that it provides us with yet another great justification for why we can see everyone else as guilty. This may be difficult to admit, but nevertheless common.

This anti-forgiveness, which is condemnation, is founded on a variety of false but accepted perceptions. Without these unchallenged perceptions we would not be able to see ourselves as victims or others as victimizers.

These mistakes of perception include the view that something really actually happened, that oneself has been harmed by an entity completely separate from one’s own self will, that oneself had no part to play in causing harm to oneself, that the harm is real and could not be avoided, that the victim did not in any way elect to be victimized, that the effects of the harm are permanent and cannot be removed from our minds or memories, that we will never again live a life as pure or innocent as before, that we have been at the effect of forces beyond our control, that we in no way harmed ourselves, and that we deserved it.

All of these are mistakes of perception. By perceiving reality based on these beliefs about oneself and others, we create the experience of suffering. Without these perceptions we would not be able to suffer. Literally. If we held corrected beliefs, these would include the correction of all of these mistaken perceptions, as well as the perception that we are not a body at all (we are spirit), that nothing can happen to us because there is nobody separate from us, that only we can do something to ourselves – and even then only in our minds, that we are innocent and holy and cannot stop being innocent or holy, that it is impossible for anything to affect us from outside of us because there is nothing out there, that all terrifying dreams of harmfulness are just that – very real-seeming dreams, and that none of the things we thought happened have actually happened in reality.

To get to this place of renewed perception is quite a leap from believing in a physical world filled with victims and victimizers. But the bridge between the two viewpoints is a form of forgiveness which actually can lead to complete permanent freedom from all harm in all forms forever.

In The Disappearance of The Universe, Gary Renard describes this true forgiveness as Quantum Forgiveness.

True Forgiveness is a process of remembering what is true, which completely flies in the face of everything that the physical world suggests, including all of our favorite roles of victimhood and victimization, and all of the ways in which we currently believe there is even such a world in which to be victimized. It calls for an awareness and a recognition that separation from God has not really happened at all, and can’t. Separation is impossible – we cannot actually do it and we have not done it. We can only dream about what it would be like – and this physical world is that dream.

True Forgiveness requires us not to dwell on what so-and-so did to us. Our belief that something happened is equal to our belief that separation has truly happened. It hasn’t. True Forgiveness calls for us to return to a state of pure, pristine, untouched, unblemished, undisturbed, perfect eternal peace, which existed prior to any and *every* perceived harm which ever has been known to occur. It requires us to attune to the truth that we are still in Heaven with God in perfect joy and harmlessness. It asks us to accept that whatever person we think is out there separate from us, they are not separate, and the guilt we are perceiving in them is just an attempt to keep us from remembering our Oneness and mutual innocence.

The real trick to True Forgiveness is going from a state of `xyz happened and I must do something about it`, to `nothing happened`. We must go from `its their fault` to `they didn’t do anything`. We must go from `something real happened to me` to `I am unharmed and holy`. We must go from `I am a limited finite mortal body` to `I am immortal spirit and cannot be harmed`. We must also go from `someone did something to me` to `I mistakedly did something to myself and blamed it on someone else`.

True Forgiveness can undo all of the illusions of a dream world that we think are real, frightening and harmful. Or rather, true forgiveness reminds us that such a world does not exist and that we are not been frightened or harmed.

It really comes down to a simple little willingness – a willingness to admit that we might be mistaken about how we are perceiving the situation, and that it is our mistaken perception which not only makes the situation look harmful but also `causes` the harm to be experienced. In a little willingness to admit to being mistaken, we open up to the possibility that there is another way to perceive – one which can be purified and demonstrated by The Holy Spirit. He can help us, outside of our insanity, to undo our illusions of separate worlds and separate enemies.

We are not victims, and never were. We are all holy, innocent and forgiven. Not forgiven for doing something wrong, but forgiven because we never DID do anything wrong. It didn’t happen. We are One with God in peace.

Forgiving something has to mean
that it is as if nothing ever happened. Imagine you
had a heated argument with someone, there were insults
and abuses thrown back and forth, seeming to hurt
the two of you and set you apart. How would you
forgive them for this, and they you? The old term
‘forgive but never forget’ is clearly not a
forgiveness as nothing has really changed.

If you were to forgive this person it would also not
come as a result of them atoning for their actions,
as if they have the power to decide whether or not
you have forgiven them. Do they have to make up
for it, contribute something or do something
charitable, or even show that they have changed
of their own separate will, in order that they
be forgiveable? This is conditional forgiveness
and would let you only continue seeing them as
the form of what they’ve changed into. It is
pardon based on a favor and has no meaning. This
change of form would be a covering up, not a
letting go. If their old form showed up again
you would feel unforgiving toward it. Hadn’t they
learnt their lesson? How dare they?!

So really and truly, to forgive such a person
entails that you return to the state that you were
in `before it happened`. In that state, the event
did not exist and had not occurred. You were
seeing past the event ahead of time and making
it not real. You did not project it outside of
you and did not find it falling on your brother’s
shoulders. In that state of `before it happened`
you were already forgiving. Since you were not
perceiving sin in your brother you were actively
in a forgiving state, looking upon them fondly
and with blessing.

For there to be a true forgiveness after a
supposed disturbing event has transpired, means
you return entirely and purely to that prior
state of forgiveness. You have to get back to
looking entirely past what seemed to have
happened to the degree that you would if it
actually never had happened, regardless of how
real it seemed to be, and with such intent
overlooking, against what the illusion suggests
is real, you actually force the illusion to
disappear through your unbelief in it. And so it
is udone and seems to never have happened, not
even lodged in the back of memory waiting to be
used as an attack at a later date.

The really intersting thing is, that the event
that was upsetting between you only seemed to
happen BECAUSE or your forgetting to forgive, which
led to a perceived state of guilt that you then
projected onto your friend. All you are doing
by `forgiving` is repairing the state of pure
forgiveness which seemed to have become corrupt.

From that vantage point you remember again,
as you knew before `it happened`, that nothing
has yet happened and never will, never did and
cannot. Either you choose to perceive with
forgiveness, choosing that there is no sin and
separation cannot ever be real, or you forget
to forgive and instead attack first yourself
then your brother.

What you learn, then, is that forgiveness is
something that you give first, a deliberate
decision and attitute, which `creates` a
projection only of innocence, without which
there would otherwise have to be a state of
guilt and a projection of it.

If you do not forgive first (for-give means to
give prior to something happening so as to
satisfy reality and make no room for lack or
loss, to not even give it a chance to occur),
and always, even when there appear not to be
`things to forgive`, you will create `things
to forgive` and will forgive them not. As you
think they are real so you are not forgiving
them. As you think they happened so you are
not forgiving them.

How can anything come from unforgiveness other
than an unforgiving real-seeming experience of
illusions and distortions? For forgiveness is
clear perception of the Real World, undistorted
and aligned with Truth. You only become angry
to justify your prior failure to forgive. It is
because you were not forgiving already that you
thought you had reason for anger, which created
the situation that you now try to clean up. It is
failure to forgive, and ceasing to forgive for
what seems like an insane moment, that gives rise
to all reasons and justifications as to `why not`.

Ultimately the situation needs no cleaning up,
and forgiveness of it is not a process.
Forgiveness is a state of mind, which when
constant and purified is but a step away from
Knowing. All you are doing when you sift
through all your unconscious guilt, trying to
forgive it and to move on to the next part, is
polish up the purity of your forgiving attitude.

It seems only that you progress through the guilt
and remove it a piece at a time because you
actually are getting closer to being able to
forgive fully. You actually are not building upon
results of forgiveness that you have done in
the past and are not heading toward a goal at the
end of time. Instead, forgiveness is a single
timeless state that need happen but for a Holy
Instant to completely correct the entire illusion.

If this single moment of perfect forgiveness is
enough for it all to be corrected, clearly it
depends not on whether forgiveness came before
or the rock of guilt was slowly removed. You are
not slowly removing the guilt, you are slowly
increasing the potency and purity of the
attitude of forgiveness, which gradually makes
it appear that there is less guilt within or
to look upon. All guilt is the same guilt. Think
not of how long it might take to `forgive it all`.
You only really forgive it all at the very end,
all at once, when you achieve a pure and complete
forgiving perspective. Everything leading to that
is but `preparation` and `practice`. Atonement
occurs from outside of time.

The ego would want you to think in terms of
making progress and learning gradually and that
what happened in the past contributes to the
future. This is not how it works. That is the
only school of thought, the old ego’s way of
learning. As you remember more and more what
pure forgiveness is, and as you enter into
greater awareness of it, so does a gentle dawn
rise above the ashes of the ego. You might
interpret this as progress, but really it is
a sign of your approach to the Atonement.

It is the illusion of levels that presents the
idea of gradual progress, when really no time is
needed but a single Holy Instant of purified
perception, which is a state of forgiving all
illusions all at once regardless of what
seemed to come before. How can you see the
light but when you fully awaken? This is not
to say your forgiveness in time is pointless,
for indeed it seems to occur in time only
because you think you are in time, but simply
to say that progress is a build-up of
`forgiveness power`, not a chipping away.

You fail to completely forgive so long as you
think there is more to be forgiven, but you forgive
just enough that there be progress toward. All
you are doing in your practice of the Course is
redefining your understanding of what forgiveness
is, hoping eventually to reach a state where your
forgiveness is Pure and True such that you forgive
all of the illusion instantly and completely.

You begin with a remnant and distorted kind of
forgiving, along the right lines but not yet all
encompassing, later to allow yourself to forgive
fully as you once did before time began. Your
early `forgiving acts` comprise some truth and
some measure of continued ego attack. But as
you progress the degree of ego diminishes.

Indeed there is nothing to forgive when truly you
are forgiving. As paradoxical as it seems,
either you are forgiving of nothing, or you
are unforgiving of dreams that seem real. You
forgive SO THAT nothing is nothing, lest you
make nothing real and form an unforgiven
illusion. The dream really IS nothing, and
nothing has happened. You need be watchful
only that nothing occurs, not watching for
it to possibly occur later to be remedied,
but instead *projecting* its ‘un-occurence’, for
it happens only when you decide it so.

Finally you remember nothing is nothing and
God is everything, forever.

Peace.

Greetings, curious surfer. Welcome to my blog.

My journey to the practice of forgiveness, informed by A Course in Miracles and aided by The Holy Spirit, began (or continued) when we first picked up a different book. An excellent read and sure to really challenge most people’s views of the world, is a book called `The Disappearance of the Universe`. You can find information about this and other titles at Gary Renard’s website garyrenard.com.

The initial draw of this book, for us, followed prior mystical experiences including mediumship, channeling and a new-age path of spiritual discovery. It was not much of a leap for us to believe and be interested in the possibility put forth in Gary’s book, or `DU` as we’ll call it. That is, to suggest that apparently human individuals appeared in his living room out of nowhere, bestowed a message of forgiveness and awakening, spilled the beans on the workings of the ego, and promptly vanished again. To some, such things are thought to be implausible, unlikely, even downright ridiculous. This might be because the rest of their belief systems are not able to accommodate such possibilities. For me, I believed that this was quite possible and not much of a stretch at all, and so peaked my curiosity about this book.

Upon actually reading the book, we experienced quite a reaction from what we now affectionately call `the ego`. Our sense of reality, our sense of truth, our conception of what is really going on in the world and our idea of who we are were all challenged. We had to actually slow down and take breaks in order to get through the book. Its message was not something we had heard before, and apparently were only now ready for this to be in our path.

The Disappearance of the Universe, the book’s title, pertains to part of the message of the two Ascended Masters who appear to Gary, whereby when nobody believes in the universe being real anymore, it will simply disappear. A bold claim, and perhaps far off in the future of mankind, but nevertheless profound. The book reads well and a great rapport is struck between Gary and his new friends. If you have not already read the book, I thoroughly recommend it, even if you have already been reading and studying and applying the principles of A Course in Miracles. It is especially helpful as a stepping stone prior to reading ACIM (A Course in Miracles), partly because it does such a great job of explaining the major tenets of the course in a somewhat more worldly and practical manner, with easier-to-relate-to terms.

That said, once you’ve read DU I really recommend also at least reading ACIM. Gary’s spiritual visitors talk about ACIM a lot and as such DU serves to introduce the reader to its ideas, background, and the workings of the ego. But more importantly, DU really gives great explanations of a new kind of forgiveness which they have named `Quantum Forgiveness` or `Advanced Forgiveness`. That’s a whole blog post in itself. But DU really excels at helping us to understand how to forgive, effectively, in such a way that our Universe really is undone.

To be replaced with what? That’s the other part of the story – DU and ACIM paint beautiful pictures of what is REAL. Many many parts of ACIM are very poetic and beautiful. Did I mention that Jesus channeled the entire ACIM book over the course of many years? Yes, the spiritual Son of God, whom is One with all of us as our equals, our brother not our hero, and whom temporarily projected the form of a body many years ago, still alive and well in spirit, conveyed the entire spiritual work of art that is ACIM.

ACIM is split into a few sections, there’s a hefty 30-odd chapter text, which is basically your `theory`. Once you get that under your belt and have a good understanding of the metaphysics of it all, there are then 365 workbook lessons, potentially one for every day of the year. That said, few people complete it in one year, and some of us take it even slower, which is okay. The lessons are special meditations designed to discipline your MIND. The mind is where all of our problems really exist, in our mistaken thoughts based on the abstract idea of `separation`, and is where they must be corrected. The Holy Spirit helps us with that part.

The is so much more to be said about ACIM, DU, forgiveness, God, awakening, why we are here, who we are, the meaning of life, etc. Either read and discover it for yourself, or stay tuned for more glimpses of these remarkable teachings.

A final note, pertains to certain `alternative` editions of A Course in Miracles. Back when ACIM was first being put together as a book, there were some incomplete actions taken regarding copyright, bla bla bla, eventually the court ruled that the edition floating around in the public domain could stay as such. The Foundation for Inner Peace is the official distributor of the official version of A Course in Miracles.

To date they’ve come out with 3 editions of the book, and each edition essentially comprises slight tweaks to the wording, some minor pruning here and there, etc. Although some people make a big deal about these changes, they are insignificant. A Course in Miracles is written holographically – that is, the same message is really being given in every part of the book. Appearances and words may change, but they all come from the same source of Truth and Light. The little details of how the forms have changed runs contrary to this fact, making specific and fragmented that which is ultimately supposed to lead to unity.

So there are early `urtext` versions out there floating around, freely accessible on the internet. But before you run off, consider that there are also versions of ACIM which have been doctored by certain groups to bend its message to their subjective preferences. I recommend that you go for purity not by using an urtext or other edition, but by only trusting the editions provided by the Foundation for Inner Peace – check that it says their name on the front cover and inside! Our first copies of ACIM were modified substitutes from an source I wouldn’t trust, so I speak from experience. If you do read the urtext or other versions, I recommend doing so a) with a pinch of salt and b) with a light heart. Truth still may come to you through these editions if you use them based on your inner guidance for a holy purpose.

And as a last word, this time around, realize simply that we cannot change the world, but we can change how we perceive the world, and in that change is the total undoing of all problems, suffering, disease and even death. We are spirit immortal.
